In one of the fertile valleys high in the mountains of Gondor lived a happy family of men. They grew all kinds of fruits and vegetables, but the evenings were spent reading all of the lore books they could get their hands on. When a boy was born, they named him Hyronuil, and naturally he picked up a lot of knowledge about farming and scholarly subjects even outside school.
When he was 18 years old, he got a little bored by this perfect peaceful life, and he decided to go forth and explore the world. He descended into the lowlands, doing odd jobs on farms for a living, and after an easy summer he arrived in Archet at the start of the autumn. There weren't many farm jobs left, and soon he found himself in the awkward situation of having no money, no shelter, and no food.
That is when he decided, more or less out of necessity, to enlist in the forces of Gondor. He was assigned the role of Champion, and soon found out how extremely ignorant he was in matters of war. Many defeats were brought upon him before he eventually was able to choose professions connected to his Champion role, and, not surprisingly in view of his background, he jumped at the opportunity to do things he was good at: being a farmer and, even more, a scholar. That unavoidably forced him to become a weaponsmith as well; the problem with that was the absence of the tools for acquiring the metals he needed for his weapons.
Slowly he learned what to do and not to do in encounters with the enemy, and on the other hand, how to make acquaintances with other people who could provide him with the materials he needed.
That is how, after many hardships, he has become a fairly happy Champion in the 30s, albeit with many things left to learn.
